I work with people who are dealing with trauma, anxiety, and the lasting impact of difficult life experiences. Having lived with trauma and its aftermath myself, I know how overwhelming worry, fear, and emotional patterns can feel. I also know how helplessness can infiltrate into our thoughts. That personal experience deepens my empathy and helps me truly understand what you may be going through.
I offer a safe, non-judgmental space where you can feel heard, understood, and accepted just as you are. While we all experience and process life differently, I strongly believe there is always a way forward. My role is to help you find your way.
I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches, including CBT, Solution-Focused Therapy, EMDR, and psychodynamic work. This allows us to explore together what works best for you. Therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all, we will work together until we find the tools that truly support you.
With over 20 years of experience, I’ve learned that when life feels overwhelming, we often fall into patterns that keep us stuck — sleepless nights, overthinking, emotional reactivity, exhaustion, overeating or struggling to manage relationships. These patterns feel out of control, but change is possible. Together we can break these cycles and create something healthier and more sustainable.
I can help you with: - Trauma and trauma-related anxiety - Childhood trauma - General anxiety and worry - Insomnia and sleep challenges - Relationship concerns — whether partnership, family, friendship, or parenting - Weight management and emotional eating. - Self-confidence
Most importantly, I want to help you rediscover hope, resilience, and hopelessness. You don’t have to navigate this alone. Let’s walk this part of your journey together!

Womanhood often comes with shifts that stir the mind, body, and heart. Whether you are navigating the adjustments of pregnancy or postpartum, living with PME or PMDD, or facing a number of grief-ridden challenges on your fertility journey, each experience carries a unique kind of pain — one that is often invisible, complicated, and hard to hold.
In our work together, we’ll gently make space for all the parts of you that are present, while also listening to the wisdom of your body. By fostering safe connection and compassion, we will support your inner emotional world in moving toward awareness, healing, balance, and harmony.
Moments in our lives can feel utterly isolating, but you certainly do not have to move through this alone. I would be honoured to walk alongside you as you find relief, meaning, and growth in the midst of your most tender times.
From my heart to yours,
Jennifer

I remember my first time going to a therapy appointment, and I did not have a very good experience! For this reason, a foundational element of my practice is establishing a safe and comfortable environment which is ideal for those who may feel apprehensive or are new to the therapeutic process. I aim for a relaxed, client-focused approach that is rooted in building a strong and trusting relationship and I am genuinely interested in learning your story. In addition to counselling therapy, I have twelve years of experience working in the mental health field with a diverse range of clientele, particularly youth, marginalized, and vulnerable populations. I have run several clinical youth groups and have worked in emergency temporary care homes. This helped me learn effective mainstream psychology and led me to explore some modalities outside of traditional therapy that focus on all the elements of life and systems that shape our individualism. Pulling from evidence-based and humanistic models, I aim to build an approach that is tailored to the problems expressed rather than trying to fit unique experiences into a single model. When appropriate, I integrate humour and fun activities into skills-building with clients looking to manage a variety of concerns such as anxiety, ADHD, communication, and emotional regulation. I believe in therapy as a tool to support in identifying unhelpful cycles and patterns, to building connection with ourselves and others, and ultimately to finding a meaningful, confident (and fun!) way of life.

Many of the individuals I support are experiencing a sense of overwhelm, exhaustion, or disconnection, and often describe feeling “stuck” in certain patterns of thought, emotion, behavior, or relationship. If this resonates, you aren’t alone, and working with the right therapist can help. Therapy with me is first and foremost about connection; a space where your experiences are witnessed and honored, and where growth happens through collaboration.
I am a Registered Social Worker-Clinical Specialist (BSW, MSW) with over seven years of experience across mental health & addictions, youth work, and domestic & sexualized violence settings. I support teens and adults (16+) through individual therapy offered in person, by phone, and virtually. The people I work with are navigating stress and anxiety, trauma and attachment wounds, grief , relational/communication challenges, separation, or substance-use concerns.
My approach is warm and grounded in curiosity, compassion, and attunement. Together, we work to make sense of your experiences, uncover patterns that shape how you relate to yourself and others, and create space for new ways of responding where old patterns are no longer serving you.
I integrate approaches including Person-Centred Therapy, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. I also pull from Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness, and somatic therapies. I am certified as a Complex Trauma Treatment Professional (CCTP Levels 1 & 2) and in Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST).
I practice from a trauma-informed perspective, recognizing that distress and coping strategies are often adaptive responses to overwhelming, unsafe or unjust conditions. My lens is further informed by anti-oppressive, harm-reduction, queer-affirming, sex-positive, and feminist theories. In our work together, we can explore the interconnectedness of thoughts, emotions, the body, and socio-environmental context -creating space for a deeper sense of clarity, connection, and capacity.

Making meaningful and lasting changes to how you live your life can seem daunting, like climbing an insurmountable mountain. Change is possible, however, and may come easier with the assistance of a therapeutic professional. Our sessions will be tailored to your personal needs based on the areas of your life you would like to prioritize. We will focus predominantly on talk therapy; my background is in CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) so we will often start with getting a lay of the land, digging into the details of your past, present, and future to identify patterns and behaviours that may not be serving you well. Learning mindfulness is key - when you are able to thoughtfully respond to the stressors in your life rather than react impulsively, you are taking the reins and steering your life in the direction you want to go, rather than being swept away where life takes you. We may also delve into Narrative Therapy, examining the stories you tell yourself and understanding how they impact not only your daily life, but your future outlook as well. For clients who are interested, we practice breathing exercises and progressive muscle relaxation techniques you can take with you outside our sessions to help manage stresses and anxieties in daily life. How long does therapy take? That’s entirely up to you! Some clients prefer a few weeks of shorter term SFBT (Solution Focused Brief Therapy) where we discuss less about “why” and more about “what are you going to do from here”. Other clients find tremendous benefit in having a therapist just to listen and be their sounding board each week. The process is about finding and meeting your personal needs, not following a script and going through the motions. As a Registered Psychotherapist, my areas of focus include: Working with Adolescents | Working with Adults with Cognitive Disabilities | Mindfulness Training | Generalized or Social Anxieties If you’re ready to get started, I always offer a 15-min consult to see if we are a good fit. I’d love to help you or a member of your family get the help they need to live better.

For the times in life when life is challenging – when hope is hard to find, change is difficult to make, and the way forward is uncertain – having a trusted other can make all the difference. Working with a counsellor can help.
I have been fortunate to have others accompany me on many journeys of growth and change. Likewise, I have had the privilege to accompany clients as they navigate their own journeys, set goals and a path forward, and envision their own preferred future. As a Registered Counselling Therapist, my clients are adults who seek to address or find relief from stress, burnout, anxiety, low mood, health issues, life transitions, loss, relationship challenges, and more. With an exploration of strengths, values, and resources within, we co-create meaningful goals and pathways to growth, change and well-being. With an integrative framework, I draw from person-centered, strengths-based, solution focused, emotion focused, and acceptance and commitment therapies.
I know it takes energy and courage to begin, to ask for help, to start that journey. I am committed to providing a safe and confidential counselling experience where there is respect, compassion, and hope. Moments of calm, joy, lightness, and sometimes humour might emerge. I am honoured to accompany clients on that journey.

Feeling stuck is a common response to overwhelm and distress, especially in a world full of pressure and external noise. My practice focuses on looking to the body for information on where emotion and experiences are stored, and providing a map for uncovering patterns that are no longer serving us. I provide therapy for youth, adults and elders who are experiencing dysregulation, whether that be from traumatic experiences, attachment wounds, anxiety, or depression. Often, we attach to negative experiences unconsciously, which shows up in our day to day lives implicitly and in ways that may be unfamiliar to who we were before those experiences. Our body may be remembering through sadness, avoidance, guilt, people pleasing, anger, dissociation, perfectionism, or isolation. The most important aspect of being able to tune into our emotional states, is building a trusting space to do so. I prioritize stabilization within the therapeutic setting through collaboration, so clients are more willing to explore their systems with curiosity and acceptance. After graduating from Dalhousie University, I completed my Masters in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University and am a Registered Counselling Therapist, Candidate with the Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists. Since then, I have been trained in Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and am working toward my Level I Certification in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (SP) which emphasize a trauma-informed approach. I have worked with a wide range of mental health complexities and offer individual sessions. If the time is right, but you may still have lingering questions, I am able to offer 15-minute consultations to support your curiosities. I look forward to meeting you!

I have over 25 years working as a therapist, in the field of mental health. While I have lots of training and experience, I find that the most important aspect of therapy is the relationship between clients and their therapist. I work hard to understand your point of view, and will help you grow as a person from there.
Mental health difficulties can make us want to avoid things in life, and this avoidance can make our lives complicated and unfulfilling over time. It can be difficult to get out of bed and get things done, and I have training, experience, and understanding that can help you make your life worth living again. Therapy can be work but together we will strive to get you to where you want to be in life, step by step.
We will construct goals, sell ones at first, and build up from there. Whether it is working together on goals as a family, or working with you as a parent, or whether you’re a teen and trying to figure out who you are and where you want to go in life, relationship building and goal setting are key components in successful therapy. And when appropriate I try to bring a sense of humour and irony into the room.

It can be incredibly difficult to watch a child or teen struggle — whether they are navigating anxiety, intense or overwhelming emotions, grief or loss, fear, anger, major life transitions, or challenges with learning and relationships at school. You may notice your child feeling stressed, withdrawn, sad, or anxious, and unsure how to express or even identify what they are feeling. These experiences can be confusing and isolating, both for young people and for the families who care about them.
With over twenty years of experience in teaching and counselling within the education system, my goal is to create a supportive and compassionate space where your child feels truly seen, heard, and understood. Using a play-based, integrative approach, I support children in exploring their emotions in developmentally meaningful ways. Together, we work on building emotional awareness, strengthening self-regulation skills, developing healthy coping strategies, and understanding thought patterns that contribute to stress or emotional difficulty. This process also focuses on nurturing self-confidence and resilience, helping young people feel more capable and empowered in their daily lives.
If you’re ready to get started, I always offer a 15-min phone consultation to see if we are a good fit. I’d love to help you or a member of your family get the help they need to live better.
